The solution

The University of Montana Alumni Association
(UMAA) is an information center for over 90,000 alumni across
the world. Resources were limited, and printing annual fundraising
mailers or hiring telemarketers to explain member benefits
was expensive.

A web site that has strategically enhanced
its presence with the alumni community by functioning as an
interactive information resource, central gathering place
and online store. A smart and reliable website offers UMAA
a multitude of cost-saving opportunities.

The University of Montana Alumni Association (UMAA) is all for
open communication in its relationships. In fact, promoting open
communication is what keeps it thriving. And given that UMAA keeps
in contact with over 90,000 alumni worldwide, that's a lot of communicating.
"This site makes it easy for alumni to register for events
and for us to communicate easily with them," says Julie Schwartz,
the Associate Director of The University of Montana Alumni Association.
"It's provided more functionality for both the alumni and the
Association."
Whereas their old site was static, this site is interactive. Pyron
Technologies created a site that acts as their main central gathering
place. Alumni can register with UMAA online, buy a membership, stay
in touch with fellow alumni, view the events calendar, see the latest
issue of the alumni newsletter, and buy items through the online
store any minute of any day. Furthermore, the website has freed
the staff's valuable time to better personally serve its alumni.
From a marketing perspective, the new site "lets us talk to
the different generations," Julie Schwartz points out. "Our
new site has given us flexibility in our communications so we can
target specific groups to tell them about specific events."
And the alumni are thrilled. "They are updating their profiles
and registering for events online. We've had great response."
UMAA knows one thing for sure: strong communication is the key
to long-lasting relationships. Through their web site, they've perfected
this skill.
